In my series Play, I sought to rediscover the joy of nature through the lens of playful movement and vibrant color. Flowers, in their many forms, offer an ideal subject to explore this vitality—each one a unique expression of life and movement. Featuring blooms that typically in peak during the winter to spring season, this series reflects a reawakening after a period of dormancy in my creative life.
As I began to paint again, I found myself deeply inspired by the rhythms, melodies, and emotions conveyed through the music I listened to. These sounds became the backdrop for my creative process, guiding my brushstrokes and informing the colors, shapes, and movements within the compositions.
The titles of each piece—drawn from song lyrics or musical terms—reflect the symbiotic relationship between music and painting in this series. Each bloom even becomes a participant in the rhythm of the painting, bending and swaying to an invisible beat. Some move to the steady pulse of a drum, while others dance to the strum of a guitar. Some serve as background vocals, adding depth and texture, while others sing clearly and brightly, setting the emotional tone. Each flower plays its individual role, yet all come together in harmony, reflecting the balance between personal expression and collective unity.
